She Wore The Most Beautiful Bridal Veil

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Everything at their wedding ceremony was so lovely. My grand daughter was the little flower girl and she looked so adorable in her little dress and veil. As she walked down the aisle she passed out a red rose to everyone sitting at the end of the pews. At our church, the throwing of flower petals onto the floor is not permitted. I found out a lot of churches and wedding sites won’t allow that anymore. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because of the clean up afterwards.  All the bridesmaids and groomsmen looked very elegant as they proceeded down the aisle, in fact everyone in the wedding party looked fantastic. But they were definitely out done by the beautiful bride. Such a lovely gown and bridal veil she had. I remember when her and her mother asked me to go with them to shop for her wedding accessories and dress. We had such a wonderful time watching her try on all those gowns and veils. It does bring back memories of my wedding. I have a son, so I never got the chance to help with bridal shopping before, this was a real treat.

She looked so wonderful in all the bridal creations it was hard to decide which I liked best, until she came out in the gorgeous cream colored wedding dress with the long lacy sleeves.  That dress absolutely took my breath away.  It was as if that dress was specifically designed for her. She and her mother agreed. That was the dress for her ceremony. Now she needed to find a veil that would go with it.  She tried on one veil after another, from floor length to short styles, before she found the one she wanted. She was really a vision to look at. Now she wanted to find accessories for the veil, but this time she didn’t find anything that she really liked, so we decided to call it a day.

A couple of days later I was looking at wedding supplies online and ran across veils and hair accesssories. They really had some gorgeous items on there, so I gave her a call and told her all about them. Not only were they exquisite, but they came at a much lower cost than the ones at the bridal shop. So, she decided to check it out for herself. She called me back just a couple of hours later and said she had found the bridal veil accessories she wanted.  There was a beautiful tiara she absolutely fell in love with, so she ordered it. When it arrived she and her mom called me over to see it, and she was right, it was perfect for her veil and dress. It was absolutely gorgeous.

She liked the online shopping site so much she ended up ordering her reception supplies from there, too.  She picked out everything from her decorations to the wedding favors, and her reception was just as terrific as the ceremony. The cake was fabulous and the wedding cake topper was beautiful too. I have to say she has great taste.

We all lifted our champagne flutes and toasted to the new bride and groom. It was a wonderful party and everyone had a great time. She got a lot of compliments on her ceremony and reception, and many thank you’s from their guests for the lovely candle wedding favors. She was also told over and over again, how beautiful she looked in her wedding gown and wedding bridal veil. She really was a vision of loveliness.

Wedding Cake Toppers With a Sense Of Humor

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

We must have sampled 50 cakes before deciding on the one we wanted for our wedding reception. There were so many to sample, that, after a while, they all started to taste the same. It was hard to tell one from the other, so we took a little break from our test tasting and went out for coffee.  When we got back they had a whole bunch more for us to try. We finally decided on a white cake with ganache icing. It’s very rich dark chocolate and it is oh so good.

We then went on to checking out all the possibilities for wedding cake toppers. There really are a lot of those to choose from.  So many styles and designs. There’s toppers for seasonal weddings, ethnic weddings and even funny toppers with a whimsical scenario. That’s the one we chose. We knew our friends would get a kick out of it and we’d have a few laughs. We wanted a topper with a sense of humor.

Then it was my turn to take over as it was time to choose the decorations, food and drinks and all the little things he didn’t want to get into. Things like wedding album, wedding picture frame and stuff like that. So those were up to me. I started with the decorations, since we were having our ceremony and reception on the beach, I made sure I had a beach themed décor to go along with it.  There were sea shells and starfish and a million other things to help me decorate my ocean side wedding and reception. As far as the food goes, it will be seafood, of course, shrimp, crab legs, and other assorted foods to go along with sand and surf. My wedding album, wedding picture frame and just about everything I ordered for our ceremony and reception, were for a beach motif.

When it came to picking out gifts for everyone, my fiance did help with that. We made sure all the wedding favors had something to do with the ocean, just like our funny wedding cake topper, the favors had to fit in with a beach wedding. He picked out all the groomsmen gifts, his best mans gift and a special little gift for his nephew, who was our ring boy. I took care of my girls, my maid of honor, bridesmaids and my little flower girl, who is my best friends daughter. Now we had to find the perfect gifts for our parents. We wanted something very special to show our appreciation for all their help in preparing for this wedding ceremony and reception. This was probably the hardest of all to choose, but we decided to go with something we knew they all needed. A vacation. Since my fiance works for the airlines, he had no problem getting a great deal on tickets. They don’t know it yet, but tomorrow the four of them will be on their way to a quiet little vacation spot for the weekend.

Well, everything was just fantastic, the ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a lot of laughs, dancing and eating, lots of eating! And I was right about my choice of  wedding toppers, everyone had a good laugh over it. We left before the reception was over, of course, because we wanted to get started on our fabulous honeymoon. By the way, our parents loved the vacation idea for them. They had a great time and got to relax in the warm sand and sun in the scenic paradise of Aruba.

I Found Spectacular Fall Favors

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Out of all the seasons, Autumn is my favorite. I love the way all the leaves turn so many beautiful colors; yellow, red, and brown with a few green ones hangin in there as long as they possibly can. The smell of the season is cool and fresh, sometimes I feel like this should be the first day of the new year, with the trees bare and just waiting to start life anew. Because this is my favorite time of the year, I chose this time to have my wedding. It’s going to be spectacular, with all the fall colors in our ceremony, and especially at our reception. Everything will depict the fabulous autumn season.

In planning my wedding, I’m not only working with the gorgeous colors of autumn, but the fantastic smells that go with this beautiful season. I’ve chosen vanilla and cinnamon scented candles for inside the church and vases filled with colorful peach and coral roses.

My bridesmaids and flower girl will wear chocolate brown dresses with rust colored capes and I will be in a soft crème colored wedding gown with my bouquet filled with flowers of fall colors. In fact the entire wedding party will be in chocolate brown. My fiance wasn’t too keen on the idea at first, but I convinced him. This is what I really, truly want for my wedding.

I’ve got it all planned out. Everything from invitations to my choice of fall favors. Thank goodness I have a computer to help me find all these great fall wedding ideas. There were some fantastic fall wedding invitations to choose from and a lot of decorating ideas, for both the ceremony and the reception. I never realized there were so many choices when planning a wedding. You can find almost anything you need right on the internet. Not just for our wedding ceremony, but for our reception party too.

We are having the reception party at our friends home out in the country, which is the perfect setting for an autumn celebration. With all the trees and different colored leaves all around, and pumpkins sitting everywhere it will be the picture of the fall season. On all of our reception tables there will be garnett colored table cloths with decorative gourd centerpieces. My place card holders will be the adorable little leaf holders I found while shopping, and elegant little autumn favors boxes for each of my guests gifts. I’m also putting disposable cameras on all of my tables, so everyone can take pictures at the reception.  There’s going to be a lot of pictures. I’ve worked very hard on planning this and I’m confident that my tables will look exquisite with all these gorgeous colors.

I’ve also taken care of the glassware for all our tables, including the champagne flutes for toasting. Our wedding cake is simply fabulous. It’s a three tiered spice cake with a crème colored frosting and beautiful red and yellow roses all around it.  I found our cake topper while shopping online and it was the perfect fall topper for us. I was really surprised at all the supplies and accessories I found for themed weddings.  They had something for the fall season in almost every category. That’s where I found the perfect  fall wedding favors for my guests too. My mom was really impressed at all I had accomplished on my own. But that’s how I wanted it. I wanted to plan all of it myself.

Well, everything is ready for our wedding next week end. Now all I have to do is relax and wait. I think this is the hardest part of all for me.  The waiting!

Planning For Our Destination Honeymoon

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I just wish I knew where our destination was going to be.  There are so many great places to choose from, that it is really hard to decide. But where ever it’s going to be, we’re planning to have the wedding ceremony there too.  After the wedding and reception are over, everyone that attended the celebration will be heading home and me and my new husband will spend six glorious days alone. So we want to pick a spot that is not only beautiful and romantic, but where we can have a great time and enjoy the atmosphere. We both had some super suggestions, but it seemed like everytime another idea came up it sounded better than the last, so we ended up right back at the beginning again. That’s when I made a decision we both agreed on.

Since we were having a hard time choosing a spot, I decided to go online and find out what the top places for a destination honeymoon are. Then all we would have to do is pick from the list. Simple right?  Wrong, the suggestions were so fantastic we battled with ourselves for a long time before making that final choice. But, we did make the final choice. Our destination would be the Bahamas. Why not? It’s not that far from the states, it has beauty, romance and there are other islands surrounding it to explore and enjoy. This is the perfect spot. There are a lot of hotels that offer inclusive honeymoons, so everything will be paid for up front and all we have to do is enjoy ourselves. We don’t have to worry about paying as we go.  That’s all done before we even get there. My fiance is handling all the honeymoon details, and I have other things to attend to.

Now that we have taken care of the location, I can start planning the wedding ceremony and reception. It’s all going to take place in the Bahamas and it’s going to be an ocean side ceremony, right on the beach.  This is going to be so awesome. A destination wedding and honeymoon in the fantastic Bahamas, I can’t wait to get out the invitations.

My mom and sister helped me plan everything I needed to take with me. My bridal gown is absolutely exquisite and I’m sure he will look wonderful in his tux. My little niece is going to be my flower girl and my fiances nephew will be the ring bearer.  I have two bridesmaids and a maid of honor, he has his two groomsmen and his best man.  Other than that it will be just our parents, sisters and brothers.  A very small wedding I know, but a very special one, we will all remember. The invitations are out and everyone has RSVP ‘d so that’s all taken care of. I went shopping the other day online, and found all the accessories and destination wedding favors I need to take along. I also picked up disposable cameras for all my guests and the wedding party.  They will definitely want pictures of this. Speaking of pictures, you should see the wonderful wedding frame I ordered for our wedding photo. It’s perfectly styled for an ocean side wedding picture.

So, everything is a go and I’m ready to take my vows in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The wedding and reception is only four weeks away, but it seems like an eternity until we get there. I can hardly wait for one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies and the most fantastic honeymoon I could ever have imagined.
