Today, we have watch jewelry boxes, earring jewelry boxes, other types of boxes for jewelry, but years ago, pretty much everything was put into standard jewelry boxes. The array of jewelry boxes can be decked out in a plethora of styles and colors. The women who stood up in my daughter’s wedding all got a jewelry box from her, and she picked one out for herself as well. She purchased a lot of things besides that, including her accesssories and reception supplies. All kinds of ideas are on there for weddings in a specific theme, or more standard, old-fashioned types of weddings. The décor my daughter and her groom went with had a fairy tale look and feel to it. She really did look like Cinderella at the ball in her lovely wedding gown and long veil, and I must admit my son in law looked just as good as Prince Charming in his stunning tux. It really was a beautiful wedding. They left the wedding chapel in style, with a man in a tall white hat and long tails on his coat driving them away in a horse drawn carriage.
The reception had small white lights to add with the tulle that was draped above and tall flower vases scattered all about the room. The tables at the reception had silvery sparkles and wonderful flower arrangements, and the bride and groom table sat in front of an arrangement of red and white roses with ivy strung along an arch. For place card holders she found these silver dove tea light holders that really added glimmer to her settings. The small jewelry boxes each woman at the wedding got as a favor had crystals and flowers beautifully interwoven in their design. For the men in attendance, a key chain with a frog prince on it was given to them as a wedding favor. The cheap jewelry boxes for the bridesmaids had black velvet-lined interiors and were made of wood and sliver-plated. The date of the wedding and name of the happy couple were inscribed in the boxes. The girls seemed to really like the thank you gift that my daughter picked out. The cheap jewelry box I saw looked like an extremely expensive jewelry box! The guys all got wine gifts sets with their names engraved on a small plaque. I felt those were novel thank you gift ideas.
The three-layered wedding cake they had was topped in debounair fashion with a small castle as the wedding cake topper. She even found a cake knife set that matched up with her storybook theme and champagne flutes to go with it. Many of her decorations and supplies were top of the line, but she came in well below where I had expected on their wedding budget. As mother and father of the bride, we felt obligated to cover the cost of the wedding, but they were adamant about not accepting our assistance.
I cried as I watched them dance their first dance as husband and wife, it looked as if they were the only ones in the room. It reminded me so much of the ball the prince had in the Cinderella story. You would have thought that it was a real princess tossing her garter the way the guys jostled for position to get it; it was a very amusing sight to behold. My daughter’s wedding day was as magical as she imagined it would be, and the whole thing was so special. Her ideal honeymoon is where they are at the moment, and I’m sure it will be wonderful, too. I can hardly wait for them to get back and tell me all about the fantastic sights they saw.
