Beautiful Gifts For Groom!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Be it a subdued engagement party or a more risque bachelor or bachelorette party, there are going to be some favors and gifts given out. There are a lot of neat little gifts that you can give your bride and groom to be at these parties. My husband and I received some pretty awesome gift items. At our engagement party we got mostly cash in cards, which is also an awesome gift idea, but we got other things too that were really quite neat. We got baseball tickets, gift certificates, wedding champagne, and a lot of small things along those lines. We didn’t really expect many gifts, since gifts are optional at an engagement party, but a number of our relatives and friends got us some regardless.
The guys at the bachelor party got my fiance a shirt that said ‘I survived my bachelor party, but I don’t remember how,’ along with some other crazy shirts and things. He also received as a groom gift, a groom sun visor, a mug with the word groom printed on it and a wine gift set. Plus he got a few things that were gag gifts, like the inflatable lady they handcuffed him too, and the ball and chain they made him wear for the party. He got other mock bride and groom wedding gifts besides, that gave them all some laughs. My girlfriends gave me some lovely bride gifts, but I got my share of joke gifts along with them. I got a beautiful evening bag made of white satin with a white ribbon across the top and under a lovely crystal button clasp. Inside the bag they had put little gifts like a manicure set, a girls night out tee shirt, a bride to be brooch and a few little necessities a girl likes to have with her. I loved this pillow they gave me which had the word ‘tonight’ embroidered on a side, and then you turned it over and it read ‘not tonight’. It was certainly the most unique throw pillow I’ve ever seen.
We didn’t get any joke bride and groom wedding gifts on our wedding day. We did get extras, like a couple of extra toasters, two identical set of dishes, and more waffle irons than we’ll ever need, but that’s par for the course with such a large wedding. We did get some of the things I had written on to our bridal registry, like the china I wanted and the food processor. My husband just adored the billards table and bar set that his parents gave us, and I know we will get a lot of use out of that. As a wedding gift from my mom and dad they bought our plane tickets for our honeymoon to the Greek Isles. Our family and other loved ones really gave us some outstanding wedding presents.
They are what helped to make our day so special, just being there to share it with us, meant the world to both of us. We were able to spend our engagement party, wedding, and reception with them, and we are so glad about that. It’s good to know you have so many people that care this much about you and are there for you during the good times and the bad. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. There is never a dull moment in our lives with the super great friends we have. We will send out thank you cards to all our friends and family, but that doesn’t really show just how much we adore them.

Smashing Duck Wedding Favors!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Kids need bathtub toys, and Sesame Street’s Ernie even sang a song about one of the classics, a tune called ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ I wasn’t really sure about this theme at first until I checked out all the cute little accessories and all the possibilities of having baby shower duck favors. I got so many great ideas over the net, and finding adorable little accessories and supplies to go with a duck baby shower was easier than I had expected. You can can a ton of different duck favors online, not just for showers but for birthday parties for younger kids as well.
I was holding the shower in my rec room in the basement so I had plenty of room to set up indivdual tables to seat four guests at each. I put baby shower gifts in one corner, and then at the opposite end of the den was a table with appetizers, drinks, deserts, and a layered cake in the form of a rubber ducky and the words baby girl written on it. Each had a poster or two of Mickey Mouse or one of his friends; the ones of Daffy Duck and Daisy Duck were enormous.
I got pink picture frames with tiny ducks on the edges to use a place card holders for each person’s spot at a table. There were duck favor candles at each table too and on the buffet table were paper plates, cups and napkins all with little baby ducks on them and even the punch bowl was unique. I set the punch bowl, which was made of glass, inside of a bathtub for a baby that was made to look like a duck; the tub was just something I picked up at a nearby store. It was really kind of cute. I also bought duck molds and filled them with yellow colored water for duck shaped ice cubes. Believe me, it was the most ducks you’ve ever seen in one place at one time.
I got some of my suggestions from friends at the school I work at, but most of my ideas came from browsing the internet. On the Internet is where I found duck shower favors, such as the precious duck favor bookmarkers I found, and the duck candles, too. The people at the shower thought they were to die for, and they got handed out to the winners of the games we did at the shower as well.
Before the guests starting arriving I filled a big square container with water and placed little rubber ducks in it. Every duck had a number on the under side of it, and every guest grabbed one duck out of the tub as they walked in. Later on I drew a number out of a fish bowl and the person with that number won a prize. Another fun thing we did was when we tried to match each person to a photo of her that was taken when she was a baby. The guests were told in advance to take a baby picture of theirs to the shower with them, and then we put them all on a board and put the board in the front of the room. Everyone looked over the photos and tried to figure out which picture belonged to which person who was present at the shower. The one with the most correct matches won a prize.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the new mommy picked up quite a pile of wonderul presents for her baby girl. I’m so glad I found this idea for the baby shower online. I didn’t know how it would all come together, but it all worked out very well in the end. Going with the whole duck genre worked out swimmingly.

Choosing Mr. Energy 8 Hour Energy Shot or 5 Hour Energy Drink?

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

During the recession, Americans will go out of their way if it means they’ll spend less on gas, there is a booming new industry of energy drinks that costs 20 times as much per ounce as Coca Cola – the energy shot.

More and more people are turning away from $3 cups of coffee, and picking up $3 2-oz shots of energy liquid – and most of them taste disgusting.

The demand for energy shots is expected to double this year, reaching $700 mil in sales – and a majority of those sales will be of Living Essentials’ 5 Hour Energy drink, the first energy shot on the market.

Several companies are already following in 5 Hour’s footsteps – products like 6 Hour Power, Fuel 7 Hour Energy, and Mr. Energy 8 Hour Energy are all competing to tap into the energy shot world.

The Mr. Energy 8 Hour Energy Shot, though it sounds similar, has raised the bar for the industry. In addition to caffeine, it includes Acai, Gogi, and Tahitian Noni – three popular berries known for their dietary and energizing properties. Usually, these berries can only be attained by purchasing a $40 bottle of juice.

In addition to its improved ingredients, The Mr Energy 8 Hour Energy shot is carb and calorie free – and it tastes delicious.

“I’ve seen the 5 Hour ads plastered all over the media. But if people read the labels before they buy, I think they’ll go for 8 Hour Energy. It’s just a better quality product,” says Darin Steen, one of the 10 top fitness trainers in the world.

In a blind test conducted at the University of Florida, 9 out of 10 students preferred the 8 Hour shot over 5 Hour Energy. Other test-groups were given free samples of the Mr Energy 8 Hour Energy shot, and returned with rave reviews.

“Wow… after taking the 8 Hour Energy, not only was I able to stay up to study for finals, I picked up a basketball game after! Without it, I probably wouldn’t have managed to do either,” laughed Troy Smith, a senior majoring in Finance.

“The 8 Hour Energy shot is amazing. I stayed energized and focused, and totally aced my final. It’s like time in a bottle,” said Stephanie Wilcox – a grad student at the Dentistry school.

Despite 5 Hour Energy’s 60 million dollar advertising budget, Bhelliom Enterprises, 8 Hour Energy’s developer, believes their superior product needs only word-of-mouth to prevail. “The ingredients speak for themselves,” says Bhelliom Enterprises’ CEO, Casey McCarthy.
